Thaletas
Thaletas ( Greek Θαλήτας , sometimes incorrectly Thales ) was a Greek choral lyric poet of the 7th century BC. From Gortyn on Crete . Together with Xenodamos of Kythera , Xenokritos of Lokroi and others, he was involved in musical reforms in Sparta in the period after Terpander . He was the composer of Paianen and Hyporchemata . Later metrics ascribed to him the introduction of the rhythms of the peon and the Kreticus named after him in Sparta. Since he is said to have ended an epidemic, Polymnestus is said to have written an epic in his honor.
