Starting in childhood, Kreskin said he developed the ability to read minds. As a teenager, he was considered America's youngest hypnotist. As early as 1966, Kresge designed a board game for learning paranormal skills that was sold millions of times. Kresge made his first appearance on a talk show at the age of 34, followed by two shows of his own. He has now had over 6000 guest appearances. In “The Amazing World of Kreskin” and “The New Kreskin Show” he delighted with mind reading, card tricks and extraordinary guests. Kresge is still active today as a live performer on television and on stage. He can be seen annually on Fox News and CNN to make predictions for the new year.

To date he has published over ten books in which he reports about himself and his abilities.

For the showbiz comedy The Great Buck Howard (German title "Der große Buck Howard") from 2008, the director and screenwriter Sean McGinley took his own experience as Kreskin's assistant as a template.
