The Capital Dance Orchestra is a German orchestra in the swing division .

history

The Capital Dance Orchestra played as André Frank and His Orchestra for some time before it was given its current name in 2004.

As a big band with 13 musicians, the orchestra has since performed its own programs in the style of the dance bands of the 1920s to 1940s. The musical director is David Canisius, as singer and presenter Simon Marlow leads through the own programs. The ensemble performed in front of its audience with the programs Stars go swing , Capital moments and Swing goes Beat . This includes around 300 arrangements, from Glenn Miller to Theo Mackeben to Benny Goodman .

The ensemble has accompanied many popular vocal soloists to date, including Nina Hagen , Johannes Heesters , Jeanette Biedermann , Katja Riemann , Barbara Schöneberger and Jochen Kowalski . A series of engagements took the Capital Dance Orchestra through Germany , Europe , South Africa , Brazil and the People's Republic of China . The orchestra has recorded several CD and DVD releases with various soloists.

Together with the music cabaret artist and songwriter Bodo Wartke , "The Capital Dance Orchestra" has been on tour in Germany since 2013 with the program Swingende Necessity .
