The Cauldron ( English for the boiler ) is an imposing, in a north-south extent of 500 meters long and about 180 m wide mountain basin in the East Antarctic Queen Mary Land . It is located about 1.5 km south of Cape Jones on the eastern flank of the Denman Glacier .
Australian scientists discovered it from the air in 1986 and named it descriptively.
