The Cape Jones forms the southern tip of Daniell Peninsula at the Borchgrevink Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located immediately southeast of Mount Lubbock and forms the eastern boundary of the northern entrance from the Ross Sea into Glacier Strait .
The British polar explorer James Clark Ross discovered it in January 1841 during his Antarctic expedition (1839-1843). Ross named the cape after Captain William Jones (<1805–1846) of the Royal Navy .
