The Crunch Bird is an American animated short film directed by Ted Petok in 1971.

action

A woman wants to buy her husband Murray a birthday present. Since he is neither athletic nor an avid reader, she buys him a “Crunch Bird” in a pet shop. It is extremely dangerous and can, for example, bite down on chairs on command.

When the man comes home, he is not very enthusiastic: he has had to pay bills all day - mainly those of his wife - and now sees that his wife has spent more money. When asked what kind of bird it was, the woman replied that it was a "crunch bird". The man calls out “Crunch Bird ?! My ass! ”(Translated:“ Crushing bird? What nonsense! ”, Literally“ Malming bird? My butt! ”), Whereupon the bird starts the attack on him. The sounds of the bird fighting with Murray can be heard over the credits .

production

The characters are voiced by Len Maxwell . The animation is by Joe Petrovich .

Awards

The Crunch Bird won in 1972 the Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ".
