The Da Vinci Code is a video game for the PlayStation 2 , Xbox and Microsoft Windows platforms . The game was developed by The Collective and published by 2K Games . It is based on Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code , which in the English version Vinci Code The Da means. Despite the common name with the film adaptation of the novel ( The Da Vinci Code - Da Vinci Code ), the game is based on the novel. For example, the characters bear no resemblance to their counterparts in the film. But there are also differences between the book and the game: For example, the sect Opus Dei from the book in the game is called “Manus Dei”. The game was released on May 19, 2006 in the US and on May 16, 2007 in Europe.

Meta-ratings
Database Rating
Metacritic 53

The Da Vinci Code received rather negative reviews. The review database Metacritic aggregates 24 reviews to a mean value of 53. The game was generally rated poorly because of the poor implementation and bugs . BBC News criticized the frustrating inclusion, with endless interludes and patchy gameplay. Most of the game's time is spent wandering aimlessly around churches, galleries, and mansions, hoping to come across an object of interest. GameSpy called it a bland and boring attempt to capitalize on a successful name. IGN rated the game 4.8 out of 10. It only captures a fraction of the intrigues from the bestselling novel. In the English version, the speakers were criticized for being completely flat and disinterested, while the German voice actors were a plus for the game. The combat phases also take getting used to. GameSpot praised the game's music for having succeeded in capturing the atmosphere of the book well, and the game was given positive credit for the difficult but never unsolvable puzzles.
