The Darkness (comic)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Darkness comic series was created by Marc Silvestri , David Wohl and Garth Ennis . In Germany, the series was initially published by Splitter-Verlag and was later reissued by Infinity-Verlag. The series has been appearing as a trade paperback at Paninicomics since 2009, starting with the six-part series “Empire” (original: December 2007 to October 2008), written by Phil Hester , drawings by Michael Broussard .

The comic is about the mafia killer Jackie Estacado, who receives a very special gift when he comes of age : The Darkness. It is this power of darkness that gives Jackie the power to shape his thoughts. The editions of the Darkness series impress primarily with their graphics, but also know how to entertain their fans with wicked jokes. In America, Jackie made his first appearance on Witchblade No. 10 in 1996 .

Powers and abilities

The bearer of the Darkness Power has the ability to give shape to his thoughts during the darkness. Since the bearer of Darkness is naturally rather evil, the power manifests itself in mostly very unusual ways of death for the victims. Furthermore, the power gives its wearer a kind of organic armor that makes him as good as invulnerable. In addition, the bearers of Darkness have made a habit of creating servants - the so-called Darklings - who sacrifice themselves for their master and stand by him in his fight against the light.

Opponents and allies

The main antagonist - and strangely enough, its most important ally - of Darkness is the bearer of the Witchblade , Sara Pezzini. Jackie Estacado has fought numerous fights against her and by her side. Otherwise he fights against Mafia clans, which are enemies with his family.

Crossovers

Jackie has met various other comic heroes in crossovers, including:

  • Witchblade
  • Wolverine
  • Hulk
  • Superman
  • Batman
  • Vampirella
  • Painkiller Jane
  • Ghost rider

computer game

In 2007, 2K Games released the computer game The Darkness for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 . The player slips into the role of Jackie Estacado in this first person shooter . Equipped with the powers of darkness and weapons that are customary in the genre, people try to find out their fate in New York City and the so-called Otherworld (a hell of the First World War with trenches).
