The Devil We Know is a2018 investigative documentary directed by Stephanie Soechtig . It is about allegations ofhealth hazards causedby Teflon and the possible responsibility of DuPont Corporation .

At the center of the story is Parkersburg , West Virginia , where Teflon was made. The film includes footage from public hearings, news reports and company advertisements, as well as contributions from academics and activists.

The film premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival . The director, Stephanie Soechtig, had previously made documentaries on similar subjects, including Tapped ( Bottled , 2009) on pollution from bottled water, Fed Up (2014) on the obesity-promoting food industry, and Under the Gun (2016) on the gun lobby.
