Band history
Founded in 1990 in San Francisco by former Beatnigs members Michael Franti and Rono Tse , they named themselves in a slightly modified form after an essay by Jim Wolfrey entitled The Disposable Heroes of Hypocrisy . The band had socially critical texts on topics such as the everyday dominance of television, racism or homophobia . Musically, she was reminiscent of bands like House of Pain or Pop Will Eat Itself and used rock and jazz elements. Sun was about to shoot to Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury of jazz guitarist Charlie Hunter involved. The band also worked with Jack Dangers , William S. Burroughs and Mark Pistel from Consolidated . Soon after the release of Spare Ass Annie and Other Tales , Franti and Tse split.
