The Downfall (English for Der Untergang ) is a turn 1500 m high mountain on the Danco Coast of Graham lands north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises between the head ends of the Arago and Woodbury Glaciers at the base of the Arctowski Peninsula .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) mapped it using aerial photographs from Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from the years 1956 and 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee made the designation on September 23, 1960. It was named after the fact that the steep slope on the eastern flank of the mountain had blocked a FIDS team from the Orel Ice Fringe to the Forbidden Plateau in 1956.
