The Orel Ice Fringe is a narrow foreland glacier on the Danco coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located on the south side of the Errera Canal between Beneden Head and Porro Bluff .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped it using aerial photographs from Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from 1956 to 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on September 23, 1960 after the Austrian geodesist Eduard von Orel (1877-1941), who in 1905 had developed the first stereo autograph for creating maps from aerial photographs.
