The Electrics are a Christian band from Dumbarton , Scotland specializing in Celtic Rock .
history
They formed in 1988 when former Infrapenny members Sammy Horner (vocals and bass) and Paul Baird (guitar) asked drummer Dave McArthur and keyboardist Allan Hewitt if they would like to play together at the Glasgow Impact Festival. The band released a self-financed album on cassette in 1989, Views in Blues . Following this recording, the band developed a Celtic Rock sound, heavily influenced by The Waterboys and The Pogues . This was followed by albums such as Vision and Dreams (1990), which was distributed by Word Records, and Big Silent World (1993), which was released on the German label Pila Music .
The band has not officially split up. Sammy Horner is active in church youth work in Canada, while the other band members work on their own projects in Scotland. There are no known plans for a further joint band activity.
