The Exchange 106 (formerly TRX Signature Tower ) is a skyscraper in the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) financial district in Kuala Lumpur . The 95-story building has a 48-meter-high illuminated crown. The structural height is 445 meters, making it one of the tallest buildings in Asia and the world.

Construction of the building was carried out by China State Construction Engineering , which at the time of construction was the tallest building ever built by a Chinese company outside of China.

history

The skyscraper was first conceived when the TRX project was controlled by 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), a fund of the Malaysian government. On May 13, 2015, 1MDB Real Estate (1MDB RE), the main developer of TRX, and the Indonesian Mulia Group announced that they had signed a purchase agreement with Mulia Property Development for the development rights to the property, land for The Exchange 106 (then known as Signature Tower), liquidating the land worth 665 million ringgits . Ground work for the Exchange 106 property began on March 1, 2016, with the concrete foundation being laid in May 2016.

On December 21, 2016, the country's finance minister, Johari Abdul Ghani , said the finance ministry had taken over the entire TRM project from 1MDB itself to deal with the unsustainable debt of the fund and conduct a corporate governance restructuring. 1MDB was unable to develop TRX smoothly and on time because it has been involved in various corruption and financial abuse affairs .
