The Feederzs (or just Feederz ) were a punk rock band from Arizona , USA .

They were known for their controversial lyrics (e.g. "Jesus - Entering from the rear", for example: Jesus - from behind ) and their provocative album covers . The Feederz were heavily influenced by situationism , as well as communism and anarchism . In their texts they criticized the state, as well as the consumer society and religion.

The singer Frank Discussion was known for his "subvertisements" - an artificial word made up of " Subversion " and the English advertisement ( advertising ) and his "derailments" (English: derailments ). In doing so he adapted a method used by the situationists: misappropriation. Also, Discussion practiced what he called "interventions". Here he "misused" "physical events" by making them interact with inappropriate elements of the physical world. In practice, this could mean putting unsuitable items in someone else's shopping cart. (Quote: All these things are made for a specific purpose, and the best thing to do is to use them for a completely different purpose, for your own amusement. - For example: All these things are made for a specific purpose, and the best is to use them for something completely different, for your own entertainment ). He claimed that these actions were more than mere pranks, but a conscious tactic to undermine society and to express a condensed criticism of it. Discussion is considered to be one of the founders of " anti-stasiology ": this teaching compares the various tactics, strategies and organizational structures of different resistance movements, both past and current.

history

Frank Discussion and Clear Bob (Dan Clark) founded The Feederz in 1977. Art Nouveau (John Vivier) later joined as drummer. Before their first appearance, the Feederz published a press release that the local media misinterpreted as a terror threat. At the first Feederz show, Frank Discussion caused a panic when he fired blank cartridges from an AR-15 assault rifle into the audience. He also shocked the audience during performances by sticking live cockroaches on his head or throwing dead animals into the audience. In 1980, the band released their first record, which Jesus - EP with four pieces.

1982 (Frank Discussion "Bored with school wrote" bored by the school ), a diatribe against school and work as an official document of the Arizona Department of Education was created. He distributed 5,000 copies of it to local high schools . He then fled Arizona to avoid prison terms for this action and settled in San Francisco .

In 1984, Discussion reformed Feederz again, along with Mark Roderick and DH Peligro, and took with them Ever Feel Like Killing Your Boss? on. Inspired by the Situationists, the album appeared wrapped in sandpaper . 1986 appeared Teachers In Space , on which Jayed Scotti replaced Peligro on drums. Scotti, a friend of Winston Smith , designed the covers for bands like Dead Kennedys , MDC and The Crucifucks . The cover of Teachers In Space showed a photo of the Challenger disaster . In the late 1980s, Discussion broke up the Feederz. By then the band had achieved some influence. One of her most famous fans was Kurt Cobain . This had a Vandalism: as beautiful as a rock in a cop's face - Courtesy of Feederz: Office of Anti-Public Relations Sticker (about vandalism - as beautiful as a stone in a bull's face - one attention Feederz: Office of the Anti- Public relations) on his guitar, which he u. a. Played at Reading and Leeds Festival in 1991 .

In 2002 the Feederz got together again and released Vandalism: Beautiful as a Rock in a Cop's Face with Jack Endino as producer. This time Ben Wah on drums and Denmark Vesey on bass (both from Seattle) joined the band. They toured throughout 2003. Frank Discussion and Ben Wah moved to Los Angeles together in 2003/2004 and continued the band with Brant Boling on bass. In 2007 they played their last concert for the time being in the Mondo-Video-A-Go-Go.

Since then, Discussion has further developed the "anti-stasiology" (theory of resistance), which he co-founded in the early 2000s. He is also working on a film called Amor y Saqueo ("Love and Looting "). He himself describes the film as

"... a charming tale of a young girl who finds happiness through wholesale destruction, theft, sabotage and, of course, looting."
"... an enchanting story of a young girl who finds joy in massive destruction, theft, sabotage and, of course, plunder." (own translation)
