The Headboys were a British pop rock band that existed from 1977 to 1982 and released their only album of the same name in 1979.

Career

The songs on the album are simple, no frills and yet varied. The catchy melodies and vocal harmonies are typical of the lively, beat- oriented music of the headboys. The album was produced by Peter Ker, who had previously produced the Motors' album Approved by the Motors . It contains six pieces on each side. The Shape of Things to Come , Kickin the Kans and School Girls were released as a single , although only The Shape of Things to Come made it into the charts.

The good reviews of the trade press for their album encouraged the band to tour North America, which had to be canceled.

In 1982 new material was recorded and the single Something's Happening was released. The band then broke up without completing the planned second album.

There is a cover version of The Shape of Things to Come by the German bands Fury in the Slaughterhouse and Alphaville . There is a song of the same name by Slade . Both songs only have the title in common.
