The Motors was a British rock band from the late 1970s. It was founded in London in 1976 .

Band history

After the dissolution of the band Ducks Deluxe , the two musicians Nick Garvey (vocals, guitar) and Andy McMaster (bass guitar) founded the band The Motors together with singer and guitarist Bram Tchaikovsky and drummer Ricky Slaughter .

In 1977 the band released their debut album under the title Motors 1 . The first single from the album, Dancing the Night Away , reached number 42 on the UK singles chart .

The Motors achieved their international breakthrough in 1978 with the album Approved by the Motors . The first released single Airport reached the top 10 of the charts in Great Britain and was also a hit in Germany.

After this success, Tchaikovsky and Slaughter split from the band. Garvey and McMaster released together a third album of the Motors, but this could no longer build on the success of the first two albums. In 1982 the band was finally dissolved.
