The Hoax (blues band)

The Hoax is a British blues band from Wiltshire formed in the early 1990s. She has been compared to the Yardbirds , the Bluesbreakers, and the Rolling Stones .

Band history

The Hoax includes Jon Amor (guitar), Hugh Coltman (vocals, harmonica), Jess Davey (guitar), Robin Davey (bass) and Dave Raeburn (drums). They had made music together since their youth and wrote their own songs. They attracted national attention when they were on tour in England with the American Smokin 'Joe Kubek Band.

Her debut album Sound Like This was produced by Mike Vernon . It was released in 1994 and received positive reviews. They appeared on the television show Later with Jools Holland . The album was named Best British Blues Album of the Year at the 1995 British Blues Connection Awards.

In 1995 they had their first US tour. In 1996 they were the opening act for Buddy Guy on his European tour. After two albums with Code Blue Records, they founded their own record label Credible Records, on which they published from now on.

The Hoax disbanded in 1999 after four albums. In 2009 they went on tour again and in 2010 their fifth album was released.
