The International Journal of the Platonic Tradition

The International Journal of the Platonic Tradition is a philosophical journal ( ISSN  1872-5082 ). It appears twice a year and publishes articles on the history of ancient philosophy and its reception up to the present day. The focus is on the history of Platonism , but the spectrum of contents also includes related topics, including pre-Socratic philosophy, Aristotelianism , Orphicism and Hermetics . Religious studies related to Platonism are also the subject of contributions.

The International Journal of the Platonic Tradition was founded in 2007. The journal is published under the auspices of the International Society for Neoplatonic Studies by Brill in Leiden and Boston . The editor is John F. Finamore (University of Iowa). The editorial team also includes John M. Dillon , Suzanne Stern-Gillet, Christoph Horn and Harold Tarrant.

In the foreword to the first volume, the editor emphasizes that the philosophical world of thought with which the articles deal is “part of a living tradition”. The editorial team pays particular attention to examining this tradition.

The articles and reviews are mainly published in English, but French and German contributions can also be submitted. All contributions are also available online (for a fee).
