The Kingsbury is a luxury hotel in Colombo , the de facto capital of Sri Lanka . The nine-story building in the Fort district with the ordinal number 1 is located on the Indian Ocean not far from the port . The two high-rise buildings of the World Trade Center Colombo are directly opposite .

The hotel built by UN Gunasekera was first called Ceylon Continental Hotel Colombo and Ceylon Inter-Continental Hotel . In 2012 President Mahinda Rajapaksa announced the opening of the current hotel of Hotel Services (Ceylon) PLC, a subsidiary of Hayley's PLC, after extensive renovation. Since then, the Austrian hotelier Otto Mathias Stohl has been the manager of the hotel. The three ballrooms, The Balmoral , The Victorian and The Winchester , which opened after the renovation, are used, among other things, for wedding celebrations .
