The Martyrium was a German black metal band from Ahlen . It was the formation from which Heimdalls Wacht developed as a side project .
history
The band was founded in 2000. Their first musical sign of life was the self- published work Einsamkeit in 2002 . In 2003 the successor was released with contempt - as a cassette via Irminsul Records , the label of the Odal band leader Taaken, and as a CD via Wolf Musik . The Martyrium also changed the music label for album number three ( Storm Squalls ) in 2004 . The last work, Todesrunen , was released in 2006 by the fourth record company Nebelfee Klangwerke , where groups such as Absurd , Leichenzug , Temnozor and Totenburg had previously released records.
With loneliness (2009), storm squalls (2005) and death runes (2008) three albums from The Martyrium were re-released on cassette by the German record company Hour des Ideals Produktionen .
style
In a review of the second work contempt, a reviewer heard in the first track “harmonies that are more likely to be assigned to the Death Metal genre”, although the “production sounds typically like Black Metal”. However, “these unusual excursions are more of an exception” and the rest of the material is within the usual Black Metal framework.
