Shintarō Mochizuki ( Japanese 望月 慎 太郎 Mochizuki Shintarō ; born June 2, 2003 in Kawasaki , Kanagawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese tennis player .

Career

Mochizuki has been training at the IMG Academy since 2015 , where three youth tennis players - Miomir Kecmanović , Axel Geller and Sebastian Korda - who reached number 1 in the youth rankings, trained before.
The Japanese played very successfully on the ITF Junior Tour from 2019. At his first Junior Grand Slam tournament , the French Open , he made it to the semi-finals in singles. A month later at Wimbledon , he even made it into the final and became the first male player from Japan to win a junior Grand Slam tournament. After the tournament he reached the top of the world rankings. At the US Open , he was eliminated in the second round. At the season finale, the ITF Junior Finals, he was fourth.

For the pros, he also played his first tournaments on the ITF Future Tour in 2019 . There he won two titles in doubles and was able to place in the world rankings .
