The Orange County Register

Orange County Register (abbreviated OC Register ) is a libertarian -oriented daily newspaper in the eponymous Orange County in California . The newspaper is published in Santa Ana , the administrative center of Orange County. The daily circulation in 2009 was around 236,270 and on Sundays 298,410. This ranked fifth in California and 29th among the top-selling newspapers in the United States .

history

Founded on November 25, 1905 by a group of business people under the name Santa Ana Daily Register , the daily newspaper has so far received the Pulitzer Prize three times . It is distributed by the media company Freedom Communications . In 1935, the 32-page evening newspaper cost three cents per copy. Four years later the name was changed to Santa Ana Register . In 1949 the Sunday edition had a circulation of 15,000 and cost ten cents. From the 1950s the newspaper was published under the name The Register . In 1959 a morning edition was introduced. In 1985 the paper received the Pulitzer Prize for the first time. Since that year the daily newspaper has been called The Orange County Register .

Since 2008, the latest news reports have also been available via mobile phone. The newspaper can also be accessed on the Internet and is primarily geared towards local content.
