The Phantom Band is a rock band formed in Glasgow . Their music moves in the dark folk rock style and contains electronic and psychedelic elements.

Band history

The band has been active in their current line-up since 2002. They have had various names, including "NRA" , "Les Crazy Boyz" , " Los Crayzee Boyz ", "Tower of Girls" and "Wooden Trees" . The band then released a CDR called The Mummy And Daddy Dance under the name “Robert Redford” on their short-term record label “Extreme Nudity” and distributed it exclusively through independent record stores across the UK. A short time later the musicians erased all traces of the band "Robert Redford", played a few concerts in Scotland under the name "Robert Louis Stevenson" and released 150 audio cassettes with their music.

The frequent change of identities initially gave the band the freedom to play with musical styles and images and discard them shortly afterwards. The name "The Phantom Band" emerged in 2006 from the multitude of different identities.

The band released their first CD under this name in 2007 in the form of the 7 "single" Throwing Bones "on the label" Trial & Error Recordings ". The approval led to the switch to the Glasgow independent label Chemikal Underground . Under this label The debut album Checkmate Savage was released in February 2009 , which was positively received by the press and entered the UK charts at number 181. The musicians' first Europe-wide tour took the musicians to the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and France in May 2009 The successor to Checkmate Savage is called The Wants and was released on October 18, 2010.
