The Riches is an American dramedy - television series by Dmitry Lipkin . The main roles are played by Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver . The series consists of two seasons with 20 episodes and was first broadcast on March 12, 2007 on cable broadcaster FX . The German-language first broadcast took place on October 25, 2013 on RTL Nitro .

The focus of the series is the Malloy family, consisting of father Wayne and mother Dahlia and the children Di Di (Delilah), Sam and Cael.

The family is a traveling tribe and earns a living from theft and fraud . At the beginning of the series Dahlia is on probation released after the prison she was two years (and drug addict was). Reunited, the family returns to their clan. But while their old head Earl is dying, his son Dale has usurped power and wants to marry Di Di against her will. The Malloys flee and previously use the clan's money supply. On the run, they chase one another with a family of the clan in which their mobile homes push away an oncoming car. The inmates, the wealthy couple Doug and Cherien Rich, die at the scene of the accident. The Malloys realize that the Riches were on their way to move into a new house in Baton Rouge far away from their old homeland and from then on they decide to pass themselves off as the Riches. The kids can go to school, and Wayne even manages to get a legal job as Doug Rich. In addition to the problems that the bourgeoisie has in store for them, members of their old clan are gradually coming on the trail.
