On April 27, 2019, the finale of the 16th season of the talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar , consisting of Herbrüggen, Nick Ferretti , Joana Kesenci and Alicia-Awa Beissert, took place. In the first round, the performers each sang a song by a well-known artist, while in the next round a contribution composed especially for the candidate was presented. Herbrüggen always competed with the fourth starting number. In the subsequent telephone vote, he was able to unite 44.03 percent of the votes and thus won the final.

According to Braun, the river mentioned in the song stands for the "river of life" and how it changes when you lose a loved one.
