The Solar Film , according to the opening credits A Short Film on Solar Energy , is an American partially animated short film directed by Elaine Bass and Saul Bass from 1979.
action
The film describes the formation of the earth and the role of the sun, which made life possible. This is followed by an overview of the relationship between people and the sun, which ranged from fear and adoration among the Egyptians to the use of the sun as a means of orientation or as a source of warmth. Recently, however, only coal and oil have been used as heat and energy donors. The consequences are massive air pollution, a built-up landscape and - due to gasoline production - the increase in cars on the roads, which in turn leads to traffic jams. Coal and air, on the other hand, are finite.
Solar energy offers a way out of the apparent dead end . Various people in the film describe it as inexpensive, pollutant-free and accident-free, among other things. The sun also has the advantage that it will remain with mankind for a very long time. Pictures from solar systems are followed by a picture of a toddler walking towards the setting sun. The credits call on the viewer to use solar energy more as an energy source or to perceive it as an alternative and to promote its use.
