The Spill Canvas is an American indie rock band from Sioux Falls , South Dakota .

history

The band started as a singer-songwriter project of lead singer Nick Thomas. After various band experiences and some successful concerts, other musicians became interested in playing with him. Shortly after the release of his first album Sunset and Car Crashes , which he recorded almost alone, he founded The Spill Canvas with Joe Beck (drums), Ross Wheeler, and Brandon Aegerter. Brandon and Ross left the band shortly afterwards and were replaced by Scott McGuire (bass) and Dan Ludeman (guitar).

After various tours across the USA, they had a large fan base and excluded various demos. Then they wrote their first album together, One Fell Swoop . In late 2006, Scott announced that they had signed with Sire Records . A short time later he left the band, but it is still not clear whether he left voluntarily or whether it was a question of being kicked out. He was replaced by Landon Heil, the guitarist of the lesser known band The Glass Atlantic .

In order to bridge the gap between their current album No Really, I'm Fine , they released the EP Denials Feels So Good in 2007 with three of their own and two covered tracks. Marc Sheaffer, a keyboardist from Sioux Falls, played on Gold Dust Woman . After the EP was released, they joined the 2007 Vans Warped Tour to promote their new album, which came out on October 2, 2007. In October they tour North America. In February 2008 they toured Germany with the Plain White T's.
