The Teen Idles was an American hardcore band from Washington, DC that existed from 1979 to 1980. The Teen Idles members were Nathan Strejcek, Geordie Grindle, Ian MacKaye, and Jeff Nelson . The band recorded two demos and an EP during its existence and was the first band to release on the Dischord Records label, which was founded by MacKaye and Nelson. The band is considered a milestone in DC hardcore and in the straight-edge movement. She was inspired by hardcore bands like Black Flag and Bad Brains. In 1996 Dischord released an EP with old demo recordings of the band as the 100th release of the label.
