The Woody Woodpecker Song is a 1947 song written by George Tibbles and Ramey Idriss for the animated short film Wet Blanket Policy .

The song received an Oscar nomination for Best Song and stayed at number one on the charts for six weeks in 1948 in the version by Kay Kyser and His Orchestra, sung by Gloria Wood . The song was adopted as the theme music for the Woody Woodpecker series. The hallmark of the song is the cheeky laugh of Woody Woodpecker. Cover versions of the song took u. a. Fud Candrix , Dick Hyman / Roger Kellaway and Woody Shaw .
