The Writer is a 2015 Israeli television series written by Sayed Kashua and produced by Yoni Paran for Keshet International . The main character is Yousef Sweid , who plays an alter ego of the writer Sayed Kashua .
The first three episodes were shown on February 16 and 17, 2016 as part of the 66th Berlin International Film Festival .

The Writer tells the auto-fictional story of the well-known Israeli writer Sayed Kashua , whose alter ego Kateb , an Arab Israeli , is in a life crisis that affects the sense of belonging and nationality of his entire family.
In the time before his 40th birthday, Ketab developed a sense of shame and disgust for his work as a writer and comedian . His problem is a new awareness of the contradiction between the reality of his real life and its portrayal in his successful satirical TV series.
