Theaetetus is a relatively small impact crater on the northern front of the moon , on the eastern edge of the Mare Imbrium, northeast of Aristillus and south of Cassini . The crater rim is moderately eroded and the crater floor is flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Greek mathematician Theaetetos .
