Theater hurdy-gurdy

The Drehleier Theater is a Munich cabaret that was founded in 1976 by Beppi Bachmair, Uwe Kleinschmidt and Werner Winkler at Balanstraße 23 and run jointly. Werner Winkler soon took over the management on his own responsibility. The hurdy-gurdy got its name from the musical instrument of the same name , which Wolfram Kunkel, a musician and friend of Werner Winkler, made himself. When the house owner carried out extensive renovation measures in 1997, the hurdy-gurdy had to move to Rosenheimer Straße 123.

The hurdy-gurdy soon became a household name in the Munich cabaret scene through performances by Hannes Wader , Willy Michl and Konstantin Wecker . There were appearances by Bill Ramsey , the Spider Murphy Gang , Peter Horton , Jörg Hube , Sigi Schwab , the First General Insecurity , the Biermösl Blosn , BAP , Truck Stop , Gebrüder Blattuß , Gerhard Polt to name just a few. The hurdy-gurdy was and is also the springboard for artists from the cabaret, music and theater scene. In 1977 Werner Winkler founded his own house ensemble, the Varieté Spectaculum , which soon became a cult. The 1987 program was performed 74 times in a row. By 2003, this Munich suburban revue had produced 25 programs .

In 2011 Werner Winkler received the Cabaret Prize of the City of Munich for his versatile commitment .
