The main venue of the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic: the Concert Church in Neubrandenburg

Since 1951, a music community with its own conductor was established in Neubrandenburg, which quickly grew into a small symphony orchestra. The first public concert of the "Kreisorchester Neubrandenburg" followed on July 17, 1951. This consisted of the "Städtische Orchester Neubrandenburg" and members of the professional musician communities from Friedland and Woldegk. In 1981 the ensemble was given the name "Neubrandenburger Philharmonie", which is still used today.

Since 2001, the restored and converted Marienkirche has been used as a concert church for the Philharmonic, among other places. Stefan Malzew was chief conductor until 2015 . The “Neubrandenburg Concert Nights” were established under him. The orchestra has made guest appearances at various houses around the world, including the renowned Berlin Philharmonic for the first time in 2009 .
