Thebit is an impact crater on the front of the Moon on the eastern edge of the Mare Nubium , northwest of the Purbach crater and southwest of Arzachel . The Rupes Recta runs west of Thebit .
The crater is eroded excessively, its interior is crisscrossed by numerous fractures and a north-western part of the edge is of the large craters Thebit A superimposed.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Syrian mathematician and astronomer Thabit ibn Qurra (Latinized Thebit ).
