Theo Barth (born June 8, 1931 ) was a football player in the GDR upper league for the BSG Chemie Leipzig and the SC Lok Leipzig . After his career as a football player, he was team doctor at 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig for 12 years . In addition, he practiced as a doctor of sports medicine.

Barth played four seasons in the GDR Oberliga, the top division in GDR football . At the age of 22, he made his first league debut with BSG Chemie Leipzig on September 20, 1953, the first matchday of the 1953/54 season. In the encounter between BSG Chemie and Rotation Babelsberg (3: 1) he was used as a left winger. He kept this position until the winter break, where he immediately played into the starting eleven. In the second half of the season, coach Alfred Kunze changed the team to several positions, and Barth played from then on as a left defender. Due to injury, Barth could not play the last five league games, of the total of 28 championship games, he completed 22 games and scored two goals.

When the Lokomotive Leipzig sports club was founded in September 1954, Barth was taken over by its football section. This took over the Oberligaplatz of BSG Chemie, Alfred Kunze remained the coach. Barth, however, was no longer part of the regular team and was only used in four league point games. In the summer of 1955, Barth left the SC Lok squad completely. It was not until the 1957 season that he reappeared in the top division at Lok. In the meantime, the league schedule had been changed to the calendar year, as a defender, Barth played four point games in June and July, of which he only played two over the full playing time. In the 1958 season, Barth was only used in one league game. The game SC Lok - Vorwärts Berlin (1-0) on August 3, 1958 was also his last competitive game for the Leipziger. In his four league seasons he had played 31 point games and scored two goals.

From 1963 Barth practiced as a specialist in orthopedics , four years later as a specialist in sports medicine. In 1976 he became a senior physician at the Municipal Clinic for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation “Dr. Georg Sacke ”in Leipzig-Probstheida . He had already returned to league football in 1966, now as a team doctor for the league team of 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. He held this office until 1984.
