Theo Harder

Theo Härder (born August 28, 1945 in Bad Neustadt an der Saale ) is professor of computer science at the University of Kaiserslautern .

Life

Theo Härder studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt until 1971 and received his doctorate there in 1975. The title of his dissertation was "The access time behavior of relational database systems". A year later he went to the IBM Research Center in San Jose . In 1977 he became a professor in the computer science department of the TH Darmstadt . In 1980 he followed the call to the University of Kaiserslautern, where he has been researching and teaching in the department of computer science ever since.

Services

Theo Härder has received several awards for extraordinary scientific achievements in the field of database technology . Among other things, he was involved in the development of System R , the first relational database management system.
