Theo J. Bastiaens (* 1968 in Heerlen ) is a Dutch university professor.
Life
He studied educational science at the Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht and wrote his doctoral thesis Learning and Working with Electronic Performance Support Systems at the University of Twente . From 1997 he was an assistant professor in Twente , in the curriculum theory subject. In 1998 he moved to the Open University of the Netherlands , where he worked as an Associate Professor at the Educational Technology Expertise Center from 2002. From January 2006 to 2018 he taught as a professor at the FernUniversität in Hagen , specializing in media didactics. In 2019 he became rector of the Open University of the Netherlands.
His work focuses on media didactics: How do you implement didactics in media ?, Technology Enhanced Learning, authentic learning (learning in context), intrinsic motivation: How can this be didactically incorporate into teaching? and social software.
