Theodoric of Reims
Theodoric von Reims (* 5th century in France, † July 1, 533 in Mont d'Or near Reims ) is a Catholic saint whose feast day is celebrated on July 1 .
The French name is Thierry (to "Theoderich", "Theodericus", French also "Théodéric"). Bearers of the German first name Dietrich or Dirk can celebrate name day on July 1st .
St. Theodoric renounced worldly life on the day of his planned wedding, became a disciple of Remigius of Reims and a cleric and later retired to the monastery of St. Bartholomew on the Mont d'Or near Reims, of which he was the first abbot . He died on July 1, 533 in Mont d'Or.
Saint Dietrich is the patron saint against fever and patron saint of the city of Reims.
