The Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium (short: THG) is one of five general educational, urban high schools in Pforzheim . It got its name after the first Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany , Theodor Heuss .

The school is attended by over 1000 students. They are taught by around 70 teachers. Two profile areas are offered from grade 8: scientific and linguistic.

history

On August 1, 1976, the previous Hebel- was divided into the two high schools, Hebel I and Hebel II. After provisional housing, the Hebel-Gymnasium II received the building in Pforzheimer Zerrennerstraße in 1979. In 1980 it was renamed the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium.

Since 2001 the THG has been a “partner school for Europe”.

The building was given an additional floor in 2003 due to the increased number of students. In the nearby Benckiserpark, the THG received its own gymnasium in the 2004/05 school year together with the neighboring Hebel Gymnasium .

With the 2013/14 school year, the number of pupils rose again: nine fifth grades were admitted to the school as part of the "G9" (Abitur after nine years of high school, that is, up to grade 13 instead of the largely usual "G8" ) and thus the high Number of 254 children included.

principal

The THG has been headed by Udo Kromer since the 2011/12 school year. His deputy is Stefan Mielitz.

Predecessors: Dieter Lang (from school year 1976/77), Gerhard Gerlinger (from 1979/80), Hans-Joachim Schweizer (from 1998/99), Udo Kromer (provisional 2001/02), Karl-Heinz Renner (from 2002/03 ).
