Location of the Theodor-Körner-Kaserne in North Rhine-Westphalia

The Theodor-Körner-Kaserne is one of three barracks in Aachen ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) and houses several smaller departments of the Bundeswehr , which in the broader sense belong to the ZusatzZTLS ( Training Center Land Systems Technology ). It is located at Lintertstrasse 71 in Aachen-Forst.

It was created in the course of the remilitarization of the Rhineland in 1937. From 1947 to 1954 it was used by the Belgian military, who divided the complex into 2 barracks. (Kaserne names and Kaserne Steetstraete ). From 1952 to 1954 the 71 ° Artilleriebataljon (C155 mm) was stationed here.

Namesake

The barracks is named after the German poet Theodor Körner (1791–1813), who became known for his patriotic poems and songs. Through his participation as a war volunteer in the liberation wars of 1813/14 in the Lützow Freikorps , his work, like his poetry, became a model for the patriotic forces in Germany.
