Theodor Arndt

Theodor Arndt (born June 1, 1850 in Benkendorf , Mansfelder Seekreis , † July 2, 1901 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

Arndt studied education and theology and after completing his studies got a job as a "teacher for German, history and religion" at the Königl. School teacher seminar in Dresden . In 1883 he was called as a deacon to the Petri congregation in Berlin-Cölln. When the General Evangelical-Protestant Mission Association (DOAM) was founded in Weimar in the following year , Arndt was one of its first members. From 1886 he acted in this association as the responsible editor of the magazine "Zeitschrift für Missionskunde und Religionswissenschaft". In 1893 the general assembly of the DOAM appointed Arndt as its president. In this function Arndt u. a. Member of the German Protestant Association , the Protestant Federation , the Evangelical Social Congress and the Gustav Adolf Association .
