Theodor Meidl
Theodor Meidl (born January 7, 1891 in Vienna ; † March 10, 1969 there ) was an Austrian publishing director and author. He became known as the "Simmering worker poet".
The poet was a book printer by profession and has worked for the Vorwärts printing and publishing company since 1919 . Meidl, who was active in a variety of functions in the union and with the workers singers, most recently worked as technical director of the Vorwärts publishing house and was chairman of the traditional choir of the book printers "Freie Typographia" and national chairman of the workers' choir association. Some of his poems were also set to music, such as "Workers Hands" by Karl Schager, the choir director of the workers singers.
In his honor was in his home district in 1971 Simmering the Meidlgasse named.
