Theodore Blake Wirgman
Theodore Blake Wirgman (born April 29, 1848 in Leuven , † January 16, 1925 in London ) was a painter and etcher active in England .
Wirgman was born in Leuven on April 29, 1848. He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts and later turned to genre and history painting . He also worked as a portraitist for the magazine The Graphic .
Wirgman owned a studio at 24 Dawson Place in London. In 1892 he joined " The Arts Club ", of which he was a member until at least 1920.
Wirgman was part of a group of avant-garde painters who mimicked the styles of Edward Burne-Jones and Simeon Solomon . This group consisted of Walter Crane , Robert Bateman , Harry Ellis Wooldridge, and Edward Clifford .
His brother was the cartoonist Charles Wirgman .
