Theodore Washington Brevard
Theodore Washington Brevard (born August 26, 1835 in Tuskegee , Alabama , † June 20, 1882 in Tallahassee , Florida ) was a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army in the Civil War .
Life
After the outbreak of the civil war, Brevard set up the Brevard's Partisan Rangers in 1861 , who were later incorporated into the Confederate Army. In 1863 he was promoted to major and became adjutant general to General Robert Edward Lee . Shortly before the end of the war, he was the last Confederate officer to be promoted to Brigadier General. During the fighting on Saylor's Creek, he was captured by the Union Army .
