Theonas
Theonas († 300 ) was Bishop of Alexandria at the time of Emperor Diocletian .
Theonas took over the episcopate from Maximus in 282 . He is credited with a letter to the chamberlain of the Emperor Diocletian, Lucianus, which allegedly documents the spread of Christianity at the imperial court. However, this letter was recognized by historians (Batiffol, Harnack ) as a forgery. Theonas died in the year 300, his successor was Petros I.
Theonas is venerated as a saint, his feast day is August 27th .
