Theophanes the Greek
Theophanes the Greek (also Feofan Grek from Russian Феофан Грек, * probably around 1330 ; † around 1410 ) was a Greek icon painter from Constantinople . He came to Russia around 1370 and introduced the late Byzantine style of moving composition there. He was the master of the most famous icon painter of Russia Andrei Rublev .
In 1408, together with other artists, he painted the first stone church of the third construction period of the Cathedral of the Annunciation in the Moscow Kremlin .
