Theory and Practice of Social Pedagogy

Theory and Practice of Social Education (TPS) is one of the oldest German specialist journals in the field of social education - work and youth welfare .

History of publication

TPS was founded in 1870 by Adolph von Bissing auf Beerberg as The Christian Toddler School. Christian Infant Care and Education magazine launched. Their intention was:

“It is the Christian toddler school that we serve ... We start from the conviction that the child should get to know God as early as possible and come to love the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no mention of forced, sweetish and artificial devotion, of a dying of the child's lust for life ..., of overfeeding the child's soul with religious, not understood memorandum and the like "Greetings from the gracious God should waft through every toddler school as through our paper"

Over the years the magazine has been renamed several times. She wore u. a. the names: Oberlin Journal , The Christian child welfare , The Christian Child Care , The Protestant child care ; with volume 3/1972 it received the title: Theory and Practice of Social Pedagogy. Protestant journal for educational tasks on children . TPS is currently published 10 times a year.

concept

With its articles, which are relevant for socio-pedagogical and religious-pedagogical work with children, the denominationally bound magazine is aimed primarily at specialists in day-care centers, at students of social pedagogy, as well as at specialist advisers, further trainers and specialist teachers as well as to those interested in education.

Each issue deals intensively with a key topic. In addition, it also contains general educational topics and an extensive magazine with reviews, comments, event information, etc. In addition to the theoretical and practical contributions that focus on thematic focal points, "Illustrations, caricatures and a successful design increase the approachability and reading pleasure ... practical relevance, general comprehensibility and the brevity of the contributions are the three cornerstones of the really recommendable magazine ”.
