Therese Elisabetha Schmitt
Therese Elisabetha Schmitt , née Görgen (born May 25, 1910 in Cologne , † November 26, 1956 in Trier ) was a German stunt pilot of the 20th century .
At the age of 18, the aviator, known as Röschen Görgen, got her license at the Hangelar airfield . Her greatest success was a second place in a star flight to Berlin in 1933 (winner then: Gerhard Fieseler ). Even her early entry into the NSDAP in 1932 did not save her from the confiscation of her aircraft in 1934.
After the Second World War , she and her sisters built a network of filling stations in and around Trier with 60 filling stations at peak times.
A street in Trier bears her name.
