Thiago Machado dos Santos (born April 26, 1976 - September 8, 2005 in Juiz de Fora , Minas Gerais ) was a Brazilian triathlete .
Career
Machado dos Santos found swimming and cycling at the age of six. He became the national junior mountain bike champion.
He was one of the most promising triathletes in South America, winning the silver medal at the 2004 South American Triathlon Championships . In the Brazilian championship he was fourth.
In 2005 he collapsed while training in his home country and the 29-year-old died of heart failure , according to Brazilian media reports .
